What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website saves on your device. Similar technologies, such as your browser’s local storage, do the same job. They’re used to make a site work, to remember your choices and, on some sites, to measure or personalise what you see.

This page explains what makemymoneywork.co.uk stores on your device and which outside services are involved when you use its tools. It covers the website as it is built today, so it’s deliberately short.

What this site stores on your device

The site itself stores two items, both in your browser’s local storage. They stay on your device and are never sent to us.

Items this site stores in your browser
NameWhat it doesWhen it’s setHow long it lasts
mmmw-consentRemembers the choice you made on the cookie banner, so we don’t ask again on every page. When you answer the cookie banner.Until you clear your site data.
mmmw-30day-checklistSaves the tasks you’ve ticked and your goal for the month on the 30-Day Checklist, so they’re still there when you come back.Only if you use the 30-Day Checklist.Until you clear your site data or press “Start again”.

Both are functional: they only remember your choice or provide something you asked for. The other tools, including the Mortgage Calculator, Money Leak Finder and 3-Step Money Guide, keep the numbers you type in your browser’s memory while the page is open and don’t save them.

Third-party services used by the site

Some features rely on outside services. When your browser or our server talks to them, they receive technical information such as your IP address, and they may set their own cookies or similar technology under their own policies. These are the ones in use:

Third-party services and what they receive
ServiceWhere and whyWhat it receives
Google FontsEvery page. Loads the site’s Figtree typeface.Your browser requests the font straight from Google, so Google receives your IP address and browser details. See Google’s privacy policy.
cdnjs (Cloudflare) and jsDelivrOn the 3-Step Money Guide as soon as the page opens, and on the Money Leak Finder and 30-Day Checklist once you start using them. Loads the open-source libraries that build the PDF you can save.Your IP address and browser details. The figures you enter stay in your browser and aren’t sent.
MailerLiteThe “Get free money tips” form in the footer, the sign-up on the About page and the My Dashboard update sign-up. Manages the mailing list and sends the confirmation email. The email address (and name, if you give one) you submit, plus technical information. See MailerLite’s privacy policy.
FormspreeThe contact form. Passes your message on to Emily by email. The name, email address, subject and message you submit. See Formspree’s privacy policy.
YouTube (Google)The video posts on the blog. A video is only loaded when you press “Play video”, and we load it from YouTube’s youtube-nocookie.com address. Until you press play, nothing is requested from YouTube.Once you press play, YouTube receives your IP address and browser details and may set its own cookies or similar technology. See Google’s privacy policy.
Cal.comThe coaching booking page. Our server checks availability and creates your booking with Cal.com, so Cal.com never talks to your browser directly. The name, email address, topics and note you submit, and the time you pick. See Cal.com’s privacy policy. Our server also keeps a short-lived technical record of requests from your IP address, only to limit repeated or abusive requests.

The links to Instagram, Facebook and other sites are ordinary links. Apart from the YouTube videos described above, the site doesn’t embed other sites’ widgets, videos or buttons, so those services only receive information from you if you choose to visit them.

Like most website hosts, our hosting provider may also keep standard server logs, such as your IP address and the pages you request, to keep the site secure and running.

📊

Analytics and marketing

At the time of writing, this site doesn’t run analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and doesn’t build a profile of your visits.

The cookie banner offers Statistics and Marketing options so that your choice is recorded if those tools are ever added. If that happens, we’ll ask first and update this page.

⚙️

Managing your choices

You can reopen the cookie banner at any time to review or change your choice:

You can also control or delete stored data in your browser settings. Clearing the site data for makemymoneywork.co.uk removes both items listed above, so the cookie banner will appear again and any saved 30-Day Checklist progress will be lost. The Information Commissioner’s Office has guidance on cookies, and AboutCookies.org explains how to manage them in different browsers.
