How the Money Leak Finder works
Many of us pay for subscriptions and regular costs we barely notice, such as streaming services, gym memberships, apps and insurance. The Money Leak Finder helps you spot them, add them up and see what they cost over a year.
How to use it
- Browse the categories (Entertainment, Food & Drink, Health & Fitness, Tech & Apps, Insurance and Other) and tick everything you pay for.
- Enter what each one costs per month. You can add your own item if it isn’t listed.
- Read your monthly total, your annual total and your spend by category.
- Save your results as a branded PDF snapshot if you’d like to keep them.
How the totals are worked out
Your monthly total is the sum of the monthly amounts you enter. Your annual total is that monthly total multiplied by 12, which shows how small regular payments add up over a year.
Subscriptions are regular payments for a service you keep using, or forget to cancel. Recurring expenses are the wider set of costs that come round on a schedule, like insurance, memberships and direct debits.
What to do next
Once you can see where the money goes, decide what’s worth keeping. The Money Management guide explains how to build a budget and track against it, and the 3-Step Money Guide helps you see what’s coming in, what’s going out and what you want.
